"Beckie Margaret combines the mystic beauty of Kate Bush with Dusty Springfield’s sombre reflections" - The Line Of Best Fit
Having spent the last 12 months locked away in a Southend studio making her debut album, Beckie Margaret returns on the 1st May with a bold new single ‘God’, giving the world the first taste of what’s to come this year.
After emerging in 2017 with her debut single ‘Cars & Catacombs’ which was universally acclaimed with many prophesizing the arrival of a major new talent, in the three years since then Beckie has released a succession of ever evolving singles but now with the help of producer, mix engineer and drummer Rees Broomfield, she along with guitarist Daryl Tattoo has taken her sound to the next level.
Beckie Margaret’s new single ‘God’ re-tools the revolving grooves of lo-fi hip-hop and fuses them to a hymn-like meditation on failed relationships and misplaced expectations.
The track focuses on obsessional behaviour with romantic partners and putting people on pedestals only to have your expectations undermined.
‘God’ gives a unique glimpse into the wider themes across her upcoming debut album.
Beckie Margaret describes the release of her new single, God:
“I wanted to release something during this uncertain time that outlined the foundations of a dysfunctional love, one that lingers in the deprivation of what could’ve been.
Complete and utter inner chaos whilst realising your own reality.”
‘God’ is out on 1st May 2020 on Southend on Sea based label Cool Thing Records.
